From classic knits to glamorous evening wear, this month’s fashion brings you everything you need for the coming months, whether you are looking for day-to-day essentials or something for a special occasion.

The sponsor for our shoot was Holt’s independent department store Bakers and Larners, which showcased some of the exciting brands now available on its fashion floor.

“This season it’s very much about making an item of clothing more versatile, so you can dress it up or dress it down. Layering is a big trend - our new range Ginger Toby is ideally suited for this,” says ladies’ wear supervisor Sharon Jiggins.

“We have some exciting items on the horizon as well as our well-known brands, which many of our customers will already be familiar with. New ladies’ wear brands for this season include Spanish label Bariloche, mixing country tweed with a continental feel; Eribé knitwear, a British company with knitwear designed to fit in with your lifestyle giving a contemporary twist on traditional Scottish knitwear, and Michaela Louisa, which has a cross-over element - a day and night versatility, fantastic for occasions such as Christmas and New Year.”

She says that for menswear, this season brings together quintessential English looks with modern styles – with labels such as Skopes, Brook Taverner and Barbour combining corduroy, tweed or waxed fabric combined with cutting edge style.

“Weird Fish and Camel Active are also popular which bring the outdoor look with a range that is relaxed, easy-going and at the same time vibrant and stylish. With a range of men’s footwear to complement our new season’s styles, there is something suitable for any occasion.”

The setting for the day was the beautiful Hoveton Hall Estate and while it is a family home, owned by Harry and Rachel Buxton, it is open to the public for a variety of events as well as offering bed and breakfast and self-catering stays.

“The grand hall and drawing room provided very elegant interior backdrops and then we moved outside to shoot around the boathouse, the beautiful Victorian greenhouses and on the imposing drive up to house. It is such a fantastic location - we can’t wait to go back to shoot in the gardens, woods and take a rowing boat out on the lake,” says Tessa Reynolds, managing director of East Coast Production which produced the shoot.

“The temperature, which was well over 30ºC, proved quite a challenge, but with frequent retouching, make-up artist Christa managed to achieve fresh, natural looking make-up on our model Kathy with warm skin tones and lip colours. Her advice in hot weather is to always apply a primer under the foundation.”
