Rescued from ruin and steeped in history, Hylands House is a fascinating and beautifully restored country house, dating from 1730. The house is open every Sunday throughout the year and on Mondays during the summer months. Built in 1730 as a modest red brick Queen Anne-style house, Hylands House has changed and developed considerably throughout its history with nine different owners each having stamped their own personality on the house, extending and remodelling according to their tastes and the fashion of the day. This magnificent building is now available to hire for functions and weddings.
HairWarm brunette and caramel tones are this season’s big news, oozing sophisticated elegance and complementing warm skin tones beautifully. The elegant hairstyles with this month’s evening gowns fashion shoot were prepared by Carole Simpson-Reeve from Caramel Browne using Wella Sebastian Reshaper, helping to give volume and hold, and then finished with Sebastian’s Shine and Define. All the styles were backcombed at the crown to give a modern, volumised look. Carole then smoothed through the rest of the hair to give extra contrast, either with loose, cascading curls or secured at the nape in a low, unstructured bun. The nape of the neck is a big focus this season as is sumptuous colour.
Make-UpTo complement the glamour of a stunning evening dress, you need flawless skin. To create the perfect base, first start by preparing your skin. At The Treatment Room at Caramel Browne, we use Dermalogica, a range with more than 25 years of experience in delivering optimum skin health. This foundation is ideally suited for even sensitive skin types, while its oil-free formula contains vitamins and humectants to protect the skin against environmental assault and moisture loss. Each shade maintains even colour and texture from day to night, without irritating the skin. For subtly smoldering eyes, blend shades of bronze and brown, followed by a sweep of gel liner for dramatic definition. At The Treatment Room, we offer make-up application for any occasion and our therapists are happy to help with any skincare advice.
