Corrine Stone, from Chichester, says it transformed her life

After decades of fighting a weight problem after giving birth to three children, Corrine Stone, 45, from Chichester, West Sussex, had a gastric band fitted by surgeon Guy Slater, of Streamline Surgical, in November 2006. She was fed up with being stared at in the street and of people jumping to instant conclusions about her because of her weight. It’s a problem many women can relate to.Corrine said: “People never took me seriously; everyone treated me like I was stupid just because I was overweight. I was constantly being stared at and commented on because of my size. “My friends wanted us to all go away on a girlie holiday but plane journeys were terrible for me. Not only did my weight affect my self-esteem but my health also started to deteriorate. I developed asthma and was in agony with painful swollen joints and feet.“Caring for my family was becoming increasingly difficult because of my weight. I knew things were only going to get worse for all of us if I didn’t do something. “Since the surgery I’ve lost nearly five stone and I’m so pleased with the way I look. I’ve got much more energy and my asthma and aches and pains have all gone which is absolutely incredible. The simple things of everyday life are no longer a chore. It’s given me a drive to do things; I’ve learnt how to do reiki and other holistic therapies and now want to open my own business.”Corrine now has a complete new lease of life and can properly take care of her family. Going away with her friends is no longer a problem for her and she can spend her weekends shopping along the high street, instead of being limited to one shop! “It was a life changing decision, and I had to work really hard for it but I have no regrets, I’m 14 stone 10 lbs. and feel so much better about myself.”

Corrine’s surgeon Guy Slater and his colleague Shaw Somers were on the series Fat Doctor on the Discovery home and health channel. To find out more about Streamline Surgical visit www.streamline-surgical.com
