From a career on ice to a fitness studio in Bowdon, Lindsey Woolstencroft is taking a holistic approach
A former international ice dancer has opened a new sports injury and Pilates clinic in Bowdon.
Clinic Equilibrium on Hall Road boasts two fully equipped studios and one treatment room allowing visitors to access a range of treatments and exercise therapies under one roof.
The studios host an array of classes using a range of specialist Pilates equipment known as reformers, cadillacs and split pedal chairs that have been imported from Argentina. From the new year Clinic Equilibrium will offer aerial Pilates which is the latest generation of training and takes the pure principles of Pilates and incorporates the use of gravity to mobilise movement, intensify stretch and improve strength and stability.
The clinic has been founded by Lindsey Woolstencroft, a sport rehabilitator and Pilates specialist who moved last year from working in Wimbledon with the Australian Physio and Pilates Institute, the country’s leaders in physio and Pilates treatment and education.
The 28-year-old has practised Pilates for 14 years after being advised to take it up as a teenage ice dancer to strengthen her core and posture. Back then she was good enough to represent Team GB in ice dancing and went on to work as a professional performer and coach alongside Olympic champions in shows across the globe, including the Dutch and Belgian versions of Dancing on Ice.
Lindsey said that demand is growing for approaching health, well-being and fitness both holistically and medically with a multidisciplinary team under one roof. Having seen various healthcare models first hand from working in defence medical services with injured military personnel and private healthcare, Lindsey has engaged with specialists in women’s health, midwifery and sport and exercise medicine and dance medicine.

She said: ‘The Clinic Equilibrium name reflects what we’re trying to achieve – to have the perfect balance in health and wellbeing. I am delighted to be able to offer new and exciting classes in a bespoke relaxing environment. Quality and care is key to me so all classes will be kept small and semi-private so that the attention given can be comparable with that of private sessions.’
Clinic Equilibrium is hosting an open day on Saturday 14th November between 10am and 2pm. A variety of free workshops will be on offer and there will be the opportunity to meet the team and see the studios and treatment room. There will also be free entry to prize draws to win treatments or 1:1 sessions as well as discount offers.
