The Radio 2 holistic health expert and Herts mum gives her top tips for treatments and products in the county
Are you seated comfortably as you read this? Chances are you aren’t. As a nation most of us sit badly and for way too long. The result is a near-epidemic of back pain to show for it.
A recent BBC Horizon investigation found that better posture helps tremendously with back issues, and one interesting option is to stand while we work (ahem...I am sitting tapping away at my keyboard with legs crossed – the worst thing to do!). So I’ve been inspired to look at the range of adjustable height desks and special ergonomic chairs from St Albans-based company Relaxback. Its Back App chair helps to reduce back pain while sitting and makes it easier to sit in a better posture, it also has circular desk raisers which are strong and sturdy or you can invest in a desk which raises and lowers at the press of a button. I hope you enjoyed Organic Month. There’s been some brilliant events across Herts and hopefully you have had a chance to sample not just organic foods, but cleaning products and skincare from local farmers markets and independent health shops. Remember to check the ingredients, especially on skincare products as they don’t have the same restrictions as food. Be wary, I saw a bottle of Organic Aloe Vera shampoo, that did contain one per cent of said aloe vera but also a whole host of potentially synthetic chemicals. Remember, what you put on your skin goes within! Check out my website janeyleegrace.com for my skincare recommendations.
