The Beauty Desk: How to create a festive smokey eye

A brand new web series where experts will guide you through the most coveted beauty tips, tricks, do’s and don’ts.

Step 1: First apply the Bourjois Paris Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer all over your face

Step 2: Blend Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation around the face and neck with a damp Beauty Blender

Step 3: Conceal the under eye area with Benefit Boi-ing Concealer, patting in with a warm finger. Optional to apply around the eyebrows for definition or any areas of redness

Step 4: Use blush on the apples of your cheek and blend upwards

Step 5: Squeeze a small amount of NARS Copacabana Illuminator onto your finger and apply to the cheekbone and brow bone area. Gently blend into the skin with a highlighter brush or finger

Step 6: Mattify any areas of unwanted shine using Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder

Step 7: Apply Illamasqua Eyebrow Cake using an angled brow brush in gentle sweeping motions, following the natural arch of your brow. For stronger definition, add a little more product to harden to line. Use Bobbi Brown Natural Brow Shaper to add additional feathered definition

Step 8: Apply MAC Prep and Prime 24-Hour Extend Eye Base onto the eyelid blending upward in preparation for the smoky eye

Step 9: Use the Urban Decay Naked2 Eyeshadow Palette (or something with similar shades) to create the smoky eye. First blend shade ‘Tease’ across the lid. Then apply ‘Busted’ in a V-shape in the outer corner of the eye and crease, blending outward and upward. For sparkle, apply ‘Half Baked’ into the inner corner of the eye.

Step 10: Sweep Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Eye Liner across the top of the lid, extending into a flick at the end. Use MAC Technakohl Liner on your water line to add depth

Step 11: Curl lashes and apply mascara to the top and lower lashes

Step 12: Apply glue to the false eyelash, allowing the glue to go tacky (around 60 seconds) before securing as close as possible to the lash line

Step 13: Spritz Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray around the face and neck to set your look

Step 14: Make sure your lips are smooth and buffed before applying Collection 2000 Lip Liner Pencil around the edges of your lips before filling in the whole lip. Using a lip brush, add Bobbi Brown Lipstick, blending outward to the liner for a flawless finish
