Taking place on Friday September 25 and Saturday September 26, the two-day festival will include a whole host of specialist workshops catering to all ages and levels, as well as talks from textile designers from across the world and an impressive variety of stallholders from around the country.
“We are delighted to have thread back at the Maltings,” says Lynsey Nichols, craft and exhibitions officer at Farnham Maltings. “It’s always fantastic to have a building full of craft and textile makers, both professionals and enthusiasts, learning together and taking away new skills, knowledge and a passion to improve their textile ability.”
Among the workshops on offer will be everything from an introduction to your sewing machine to a masterclass in printing on textiles and the chance to join Great British Sewing Bee finalist Lauren Guthrie to make a custom-made, snap-frame coin purse.
Festival-goers keen to delve deeper into the world of textiles will also have the opportunity to hear expert talks offering insider knowledge of their craft – including by freelance illustrator Emma Block, the designer of the thread festival print for the past few years, whose session is aimed at helping budding entrepreneurs in the creative sector to set up a successful business.
