Members of the MG Owners Club came to the Ribble Valley from far and wide to take part in a three day event taking them to some of the most beautiful places in Lancashire and Yorkshire.

The event, organised by John and Kate Whitwell from Slaidburn, started at the Clarion Hotel in Lango near Clitheroe where the members, and their cars stayed. The first day saw 14 cars, some dating back to the 1930s, motoring along the A59 towards the picturesque village of Sawley.

From here their route took them over the Bowland Fells via Gisburn Forest. Some members stopped to look at St James' Church at Dalehead before making the climb to the top of Bowland Knotts, approximately 1,300 feet above sea level on the boundary of Lancashire and North Yorkshire. The run then continued in North Yorkshire to Clapham, Ingleton and Hawes before returning to the Clarion Hotel via Kettlewell and Skipton.

During the rest of the event the MG owners discovered some of the best known locations in the Ribble Valley including Whalley Abbey, Ribchester, Hurst Green and Stonyhurst and took a drive to Slaidburn where John and Kate had arranged a treasure hunt around the village.
