Move over Top Gear, here comes the Farnham Banger Rally
- Credit: Archant
The challenge? Buy an old banger for no more than £350, ‘tart it up’ in the spirit of Top Gear and embark on a leisurely drive around France for four days, taking in Paris, Le Mans and Rouen, before heading back to Surrey.
The reason? The Farnham Banger Rally will be raising money for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham and Step by Step, the young people’s homeless charity in Aldershot.
Cars will be departing from The Packhouse in Runfold, near Farnham, on the morning of Thursday August 28 and returning to Surrey on Sunday August 31, and the event is open to anyone with a sense of adventure.
Entry costs £250 per car and up to two people (additional passengers will cost £60 each), which covers the itinerary and suggested route, daily challenges, campsite pitches and entry to the after-party that will be held on the evening of Saturday September 6.
