Need to knowWhat? P1 Supercar SundayWhen? Sunday May 20, 9.30am to 1pm (cars will leave in a convoy)Where? De Vere Horsley Park, East Horsley KT24 6DU

A collection of the finest supercars in the UK will be going on show in one Surrey village this month, as P1 Supercar Sunday once again revs its engines for charity.

Starting bright and early on Sunday May 20, it will feature Ed China from TV’s Wheeler Dealers and his new sofa car, the ‘Lounge Rover’, as well as a show of motoring might to put the Sultan of Brunei to shame – all descending on the peaceful village of East Horsley.

Offering the chance to view Bugattis, Ferraris, Lamborghinis and other envy-inducing dream machines up close, this spectacular free event is also in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The term ‘supercar’, originally coined by LJK Setright of CAR magazine in the mid-1960s, has come to signify the height of aspiration due partly to programmes like Top Gear – and it’s no surprise that these events have grown an avid following in Surrey.

With that in mind, a few years ago, the Epsom-based supercar club, P1 International, started running small get-togethers, where supercar owners and enthusiasts could meet at various locations around our county: P1 Supercar Sunday was born.

Famously, the breakfast bash was hosted for a time by motoring fanatic and BBC Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans at his pub The Mulberry Inn at Chiddingfold, but such was the popularity of the event that it eventually outgrew the venue, its car park and the local roads!

And so, last year, P1 Supercar Sunday moved to the iconic and slightly more spacious surroundings of the De Vere-owned Horsley Towers, with its gothic towers providing a spectacular backdrop.

As well as motoring enthusiasts, celebs like Saturday Kitchen’s James Martin have been known to attend and, this year, you’ll certainly find Surrey Life ticking off our wish list.
