As Oscar-winning actress Dame Judi Dench’s seven-film James Bond tenure as M came to a close in a blaze of gunfire in Skyfall, the Outwood resident asked a Surrey-based designer goldsmith to transform the bullets into mementos for her family.

Nutfield jeweller, Roger Elliott, worked the cartridges into cufflinks by plating them in 18-carat gold, studding their tips with rubies and engraving them with Skyfall, the name of Bond’s fictional childhood home in the Scottish Highlands (actually filmed in Surrey at Hankley Common, near Thursley) where M dies in the arms of 007.

Roger, who has made a necklace and earrings for the Surrey-based actress in the past, now plans to sell replica versions of the Skyfall cufflinks, in gold and silver, to Bond fans.

Dame Judi inherited the role of M from Robert Brown, with her character - introduced in 1995’s Golden Eye - loosely based on real life former MI5 head Dame Stella Rimmington.
