It’s almost here - the festive season will be upon us before we know it. And Jarrold’s beauty buyer Suzie Abel can’t wait!

I LOVE Christmas and always have done, even if I’m quite exhausted by the time it finally gets here. I love everything about it - the festive lights, the beautiful decorations, wrapping the presents and sending the cards. Most years I do wonder how I manage to fit it all in though, but that’s part of the thrill - especially wrapping the last gift at 11pm on Christmas Eve!

I’m so lucky that my office is part of the Jarrold building designed by George Skipper, well known for many Norwich edifices like the Norwich Union Surrey House and the Royal Arcade. It looks out on to London Street, where the trees are festooned with beautiful twinkling lights that continue up Guildhall Hill and around the market. I am always amazed when I look back at our façade on my way home and marvel at how beautiful it is in its full Christmas livery and we all make a point of staying late to see the switching on of the city lights and the famous fireworks from our roof. Our store theme this year is The Nutcracker, so look out for the Mouse King, the Sugar Plum Fairy and lots of toy soldiers. The windows do look particularly stunning with all of these characters and lots of vibrant festive colours, particularly red.

Red just says Christmas, doesn’t it, and it’s the most popular colour for the packaging of beauty gifts at this time of the year. I’ve selected just a few super gift ideas to help you with your festive shopping – they’re very affordable too.

For the gardeners in your life, Crabtree & Evelyn has the ideal hand care duo to protect and moisturise the hands, and in a tin that could be useful later. Spoil someone dear with a luxurious gift box from Rituals containing a body scrub, shower foam, body cream and bed and body mist – all you need for a relaxing Ayurveda ritual in your own home. Make someone smile with these hilarious Santa gifts – a Santa Baby hand wash or the Ho Ho Ho bath fizzers. Now, have they been naughty or nice this year? Well, when you decide, why not give them the soap to match? Whatever you choose to give, take pleasure in the giving and have a wonderful Christmas .
