Bath’s Thermae Spa – a haven of relaxation and the perfect day out for you and mum this Mother’s Day.

With fabulous views over the beautiful and historic city, therapists to make you feel pampered and a high standard of food in the restaurant it is a wonderful day out.

The hot springs in Bath, from which the city derives its name, are a wonderful, natural, resource, which deliver more than one million litres of mineral-rich water every day. Bath and its waters have a long association with well-being and the word SPA is related to the Latin phrase ‘Salus Per Aquam’ or ‘health through water’.

From the 1970s until the restoration of the spa was completed in 2006, this natural resource went down the drain and ended up in the River Avon.

Today, the natural thermal waters feed four baths at Thermae Bath Spa, the Cross Bath, the Hot Bath, the Minerva Bath and the open-air rooftop pool.

On our visit to Thermae Bath Spa my mother and I were treated to wonderful treatments, a fantastically relaxing Thermae Oriental Massage for me and a Lumafirm lift and glow facial for her.

My massage was the ultimate in relaxation – a must-have for anyone with a busy lifestyle and who sits in front of a computer a lot – it relaxed muscles I never knew existed.

My mother has had a number of different facials over the years, but the one that she had on this day was a luxury facial, excellent for a cumulative effect on ageing skin through its exclusively-formulated, freeze-dried technology.

The products used are from the Pevonia range and are entirely made from natural products and they smell so good .

She said: “I have to say the results were brilliant, my skin felt youthful and I was thoroughly pampered by my therapist, including having a head massage, so relaxing.”

So we had been pampered, enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing time in the wonderfully smelling aroma steam rooms and enjoyed spectacular views over the city of Bath and surrounding hills from the roof top pool, so what next?

Lunch.

What a pleasure.

This could have been food served from the kitchen of a top-class restaurant – tasty fillet of seabass and tender turkey breast for the two of us for a main course – with Eton mess and baklava to finish.

Thermae Bath Spa was a pleasure from start to visit and somewhere that you will keep going back to once you have had the experience once.

My mother suffers with arthritis in her knees and I can truthfully say she has had no aches and pains since our visit.

Treat your mother this Mother’s Day. Trust me, it will earn you brownie points for years!
