Fabulous fashion from international and regional designers is on the programme for next month’s Great Yorkshire Show.

There’s the chance for a sneak preview of the autumn/winter collections from designer names, including Max Mara, Cordings of Piccadilly and a collection from West Yorkshire’s Kevan Jon will add quirky panache. In addition, students from some the region’s top colleges are looking forward to seeing their work on the catwalk.

Brook Taverner has long been associated with the event, and their elegant menswear, also for autumn/winter, will again feature on the runway. There’s also the chance to see the Yorkshire Agricultural Society’s very own tweed, not only the jacket, but trousers and a waistcoat which have been specially made for the Great Yorkshire Show catwalk.

The designers of tomorrow are always a major part of the event. This year sees student collections from colleges at York, Bradford and Northallerton and also the University of Huddersfield. York College students have teamed up with their local hospice, St Leonard’s, and have re-worked donated men’s suits to create a stunning collection of dresses whilst students from Huddersfield are working on an innovative competitive project with Zoflora, one of the UK’s leading concentrated disinfectant. The winner will be announced at Harrogate.

The fashion shows take place four times each day in the Skipton Building Society Fashion Pavilion and are organised by Morton Gledhill-The Fashion Team, with hair and makeup courtesy of Bradford College.

Show director, Charles Mills, who took on the role last July, said: ‘The Great Yorkshire Show is an integral part of the county’s calendar and indeed beyond. It is a showcase for excellence and also for nurturing talent, whether that’s in terms of animals in the competitive classes, or providing a platform to highlight the creativity and flair of fashion designers. It has a deserved reputation for presenting the best of the best, and what will be our 158th show, will be no exception.’ w
