On Wednesday 17th September, Chichester wedding venue Southend Barns hosted its debut fashion show. A sparkling success, the event raised over £300 for local charity St Wilfrid’s Hospice.
The evening began with complimentary canapés, sparkling wine and peach Bellini’s from Field & Fork, the venue’s in-house caterers, before guests were invited into the Threshing Barn for the choreographed catwalk show.
The show featured themes such as winter wonderland, fairytale, rock ‘n’ roll and Downton Abbey that each showcased different outfits for men, women and children as well as accessories from local wedding suppliers. Andrew McDowall tailoring, House of Fraser, Mousetrap, Eliza Mabel and Whyte Weddings Bridal Boutique all supplied clothes for the fashion show while accessories were provided by Charlotte Cornelius jewellery, Driftwood Flowers and Get Ahead Hats.
Lucy Olivia Ward and ID Makeup, Hair and Beauty Lounge were on hand throughout the day to work on the models’ hair and makeup, ensuring that each style complimented the themes.
For the show’s finale, owner of Southend Barns, Mariella Fleming, announced winners of the raffle prizes that included fantastic discounts on wedding photography, suit hire and accessories as well as a 3 month pre-wedding membership at Harbour Way Country Club for a bride and groom.
Following the fashion show, guests could make their way over to the Dairy Barn to collect their goodie bags and meet with local bridal suppliers who had set up shop to showcase their bridal fashions and services. The barn was alive with bright floral bouquets, jewellery, accessories and a display of designer dresses. Vintage wedding cars were also parked outside the venue.
Mariella Fleming comments, “This is the first time we have hosted a fashion show and we couldn’t be happier with how the event went. We are so grateful to all the models who volunteered their time to make the show a success and also to the local suppliers who provided us with some fabulous wedding gowns, suits, flower girl outfits and more. We have had some wonderful feedback from guests and are thrilled that we managed to raise so much for St Wilfrid’s Hospice, which is a charity very close to our hearts.”
