Kate Houghton gets the star treatment at Opium in Hale Barns
Oh, I do love a facial. It’s an inarguable fact cared-for skin has a glow that no make-up can fake, and no matter how thorough your skincare routine, nothing beats a professional facial for added glow – if only we can find the time…
From now on, I’ll be heading off to spend some regular face-time with the lovely Terri, facial and massage therapist at Opium in Hale, who loves her job so much it’s clear in every move she makes.
Terri and I enjoyed a Pevonia facial treatment that sent me off into a daydream world, where I was wealthy beyond measure and spent all my time being pampered and looked after, with no thought beyond the next peppermint tea, which Opium does very well too! My dream lasted a joyful hour, during which time Terri applied fabulously scented, packed with active-ingredients, selected for my own skin needs concoctions to my face and with every new application delivered a massage that couldn’t be bettered.
From the first application of cleanser, Terri’s talented hands massaged my face, neck and décolletage, easing away the tensions every desk-bound worker builds up. The delicious scents of the Pevonia products add to the sense of relaxation and when the mask is applied and the head massage starts you’ll think you’re in heaven. Utter bliss.
Opium’s owner, Ampika Pickston, chose Pevonia when she launched her business three years ago for its combination of all natural and active ingredients; you won’t find Pevonia available to buy over the counter because of the percentage of these active ingredients, meaning they can only be ‘prescribed’, as such, by a trained therapist, who selects those that are best suited to addressing your skin’s needs, from acne to aging to dehydration and sensitivity.
Ampika’s choice of Pevonia supports the ethos that underpins her hair and beauty business: ‘My whole ethos is about helping busy, hardworking women find some space for me-time, time solely about you, where you leave feeling good and looking good. My pricing is all about being competitive without compromise, on quality of products or of staff. I am filming Real Housewives of Cheshire for around eight months of the year, I work here and am a mum, so any me-time I can get is really important and that’s what we aim to deliver here for all busy, time-starved women.’
