Norwich boutique Walkers of Pottergate shows us how to create a cool, stylish and standout look for spring
IF YOU need some inspiration to spruce up your spring wardrobe with a collection of striking and stylish pieces, then look no further than this month’s fabulous, funky fashion shoot. Sponsored by Walkers of Pottergate, the aim of the shoot was to create a series of looks which were innovative and yet extremely wearable using some of the most creative and inspiring designers around.
“Our story for this shoot concentrates on our main collection, designed by creatives Carsten and Lenka Rundholz,” says Walkers owner Anne Rowe. “They create ladieswear which breaks all common rules on ‘how to dress’, yet it offers us a way to dress our ladies in a truly sensational style.”
For this spring, the team focused on a “fruity” palette with colours of strawberries, raspberries, melon, blueberry, lychee and a touch of mint.
“These shades are seen throughout the collections, some fabrics are a single colour, others are printed with abstract writing, with many stripes and spots too,” she says.
The clothes are designed for ladies of all ages and sizes, from a UK size eight to a UK 18. “Our look can be informal or be dressed up for those wonderful season occasions we all enjoy. Our customers are very much of all ages and our shop is a hub of passion, fashion and creativity. We are a friendly crew, and really know our stock and how to help our customers look and feel amazing. But we are very relaxed and happy, and there is no pressure to buy, just come along, take a look around, drink tea and eat cake with us.”

The shoot was staged by Norfolk Production, and stylist Susie Lloyd says it was fantastic to work with such interesting styles.
“When I heard that the clothes featured were by Rundholz I could picture the look straight away. The Rundholz pieces we selected with the team at Walkers told a story of deconstructed tailoring, graphic forms and monochrome colour with a pop of red. I took inspiration from the look and aesthetic of radical designer Rei Kawakubo of Comme Des Garçons fame.
“Our model Olivia had the perfect look for the shoot and she acted as our muse, a strong female with an eye for fashion but confident in herself to go against the grain.”
Make-up artist Christa Ellis complemented Olivia’s beautiful pale complexion with a matt foundation and very strong brows, neutral eyes and a dusting of blush on her cheeks. The look was finished with a velvety matt lipstick.
