It’s all white

Norwich can now add yet another exciting retailer to its list of stores with the opening of the White Company on Gentleman’s Walk.

The new concept store will sell edited collections of its bed linen, clothing, home wares and children’s clothes. Check out its new collection of classic nightwear – we love the glamorous, semi-sheer, lace nightie in dusty pink, £45; the cashmere bed socks, £35; Hydrocotton robe, £75, and these cosy slippers, £30.

The White Company was started 20 years ago by Chrissie Rucker, and what started as essential household linens has grown to include a huge range of products from home accessories to clothing.

Rainy day fun

What better way to tempt your child outside than these fantastic colour-changing waterproofs from Holly & Beau, based at Langham, near Holt.

These innovative coats, have just won the Shell LiveWIRE Grand Ideas Award and bronze award from Best Junior Fashion Brand 2014. The company was founded by brother and sister Jack and Fleur Passant in 2012 after they graduated from university. Having had the wettest summer in decades they noticed that many children’s waterproofs were rather dull and set about adding a very special splash of colour. Taking the lead from technology used by nappy brands, they began developing their own colour-changing clothing using water-based inks with no chemicals or metals.

“When water splashes on to the designs they burst with colour, returning to their original colour once dry. This exciting process is repeated every time the fabric comes into contact with water,” says Jack.

Our faves are this monster rain-mac, £27, and the space patterned and feather patterned raincoats with fleece lining, from £49. Sizes are from three to 12 years. Holly & Beau also designs a range of cool umbrella – with 20p from every sale going to the Rainbow Trust children’s charity which supports families who have a child with a terminal or life threatening illness.

Love your hair

We fell in love with the fabulous hairstyles that south-east Aveda expert Kasey Richens created for the models in the Jarrold’s and EDP Norfolk fashion marquee at the Royal Norfolk Show this summer. And now you can experience her magic too when Kasey visits Jarrold’s store this month. Kasey will be meeting customers and giving a demonstration at the invitation-only Glitz and Glamour evening on October 14 between 6pm and 8pm, and then at the Aveda counter for the following two days for cut and blow dries. Book an appointment with Kasey on 0370 1925548; the £35 price of the cut is fully redeemable against Aveda products there. Susie Dunderdale, Aveda manager at Jarrold’s, explains that the hair and skincare brand uses the art and science of pure flower and plant essences, and it’s a brand with a conscience, supporting environmental and community projects around the world.

Get your invitation to the hair, beauty and perfumery evening by emailing marketing@jarrold.co.uk or call into the store, London Street, Norwich, NR2 1JF; 01603 660661.
