In recent months, team Surrey Life has been busy speaking to our contributors and industry experts from around the county to get a feel for just who makes Surrey tick
She’s a TV presenter, charity fund-raiser and mum, and now Louise Redknapp has added another string to her bow with her Wild about Beauty make-up range. The 38-year-old Oxshott resident set up the company with her good friend and international make-up artist Kim Jacob and has even invested her own money in the project rather than, as is often the case with celebrity brands, simply endorsing it for publicity. Launched at House of Fraser in Guildford last autumn, the range is available nationwide and has been met with an enthusiastic response.
Having started TONI&GUY with his brother back in 1963, Toni Mascolo is celebrating the hairdressing chain’s 50th anniversary this year. During that time, the Effingham resident has taken the company from just a couple of salons to the globally recognised brand that it is today. Another milestone came in 2004 when, with the help of his daughter and global creative director Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck, he created the professional haircare range label.m, which can now be seen creating the looks backstage at London Fashion Week and has won numerous awards. In addition, the 70-year-old received an OBE in 2008.
She may have lost out to geeky inventor Tom Pellereau in the final of The Apprentice, but Susan Ma still impressed Lord Sugar enough to win his backing for her beauty business. The multi-millionaire decided to invest in her Croydon-based skincare company, Tropic, despite her originally failing to secure the £250,000 stake in the 2011 series of the hit TV show. The 24-year-old launched her range of natural, vegan and cruelty-free products from her kitchen table in 2007, and with Lord Sugar’s backing, the company looks set to go on to great things. The pair recently teamed up for a special launch of the latest range.
