If you’re after something practical out on the field, beautiful accessories or a country themed artisan gift, look no further than Sporting Threads on the outskirts of Taunton
Close proximity to leading gun specialists, UK Gun Repairs was influential to the choice of stock available in Sporting Threads with its impressive range of shooting clothing and accessories but do not mistake it for purely a shooting shop. Country sports and country style is the common thread that runs through the store.
Sporting Threads boasts a stunning line of practical coats, jackets, breeks, gilets, sweaters and shirts for both men and women and these can be matched with some stunning ties, cufflinks, stripy socks, scarves, gloves and hats. For women, a beautiful range of possum/merino wool knitwear comes in a wide range of styles with ponchos, capes and shawls as well as crew or v-neck jumpers. This range of knitwear is extremely popular for its cosy warmth and soft feel and new to the range this autumn will be a selection of gilets in a move towards a more environmentally friendly product than fleece. Both the gilets and jumpers are also available for men.
Should you need a special present that has a country flavour, Sporting Threads is the shop to go to, especially if you are after something a bit different. Small scale British manufacturing is certainly well represented here. It is hard to make a choice from the beautiful range from Wingfield Digby, which takes you to the heart of the countryside with feathers incorporated in each stunning item - large wooden framed trays with pheasant, guinea fowl and duck feathers arranged under a glass base; photo frames, scented candles, table mats, coasters and feather wreaths - all are very attractive. Handmade pewter items from the English Pewter Company, British designer mugs, tea towels and completely stunning 100% silk handmade scarves from British wildlife artist, Clare Shaw.
Sporting Threads is also proud to sell beautiful cow horn products from African Trading in Uganda - a wonderful small company that puts a percentage of its profits back into charities to save the Rhino and Elephant.
After a comfortable boot to wear while walking the dog? You'll find wellington boots from premier brand Aigle on sale, together with boots from Percussion and Hoggs of Fife, available in a range of colours. Boot gaiters are in stock too. There is no need for man's best friend to miss out at Sporting Threads either, you will find the top performing SICCARO drying rugs and FlexDog Mats. - the brand created by an avid animal lover who wanted something functional and stylish to keep her dog dry and warm. Striking beaded collars from Kenya, leads made from Dartmoor sheep's wool and a striking range of rugs and blankets from Thelwell are also on sale.
If you haven't yet found Sporting Threads, do pay them a visit as their beautiful shop is one of a kind in this area.
