New Year, new you

After the glitz and glitter of Christmas and New Year, January is a great time to strip back your base make up and focus on a skin care regime which will freshen up your face and enable you to experiment with different styles. Avoid heavy concealers and foundations and instead opt for a BB cream. Combining moisturiser, primer, tinted mineral coverage and SPF all-in-one, this will fast become an essential in your make-up bag. Once your skin is looking fresh and glowing you can try out more adventurous products such as bright lipsticks or coloured eye-liners.
2 Bold brows
Whatever time of year it is brows are so important for a fresh look! Bold brows are making a real comeback so don’t be afraid to try a tint which will complement your colouring. Book yourself a brow treatment incorporating both a tint and a shape. You’ll be amazed at the difference it makes, giving you a perfectly framed face and opening up your eyes.
3 Makeover your manicure
Although nails may seem a minor detail, they can say a lot about you and your style. Move away from your comfort zone by trying a new shape or a brave new colour. Rather than sticking with the predictable oval or squared nail shape take a leaf out of the A-listers’ book and go for a pointed nail shape. Colour trends for January include greys, deep greens, navy blues and anything metallic. If you’re feeling really crazy why not try a half-moon design.

A great way to give yourself a boost during the bleak midwinter is by getting a tan. Not a bright orange, Essex-esque tan, more of a three-days in the South of France glow! Having a slight glow can transform your look and give you a healthy sheen. Moisturise daily with a gradual tan moisturiser such as Johnsons Holiday Sun or St Tropez Gradual Tan for a sun kissed look ready for spring.
5 Hair overhaul
There’s no need to do anything drastic to your hair in order to change your look. Simple tweaks such as parting your hair on the other side of your head can make a huge difference to your overall look and how your hair frames your face. You could also try cutting in a fringe for a fresh new look.
