James Smith, investment manager and branch manager of Charles Stanley Eastbourne shares how a wealth manager could help you get the most out of your finances.

Q: What is a wealth manager?

A: A wealth manager is someone who looks after your financial affairs. We provide a range of financial services, including advice on investments – either managing them on your behalf or helping you manage them yourself.

I manage my clients’ investment portfolios and speak to them about their ambitions, concerns, and attitude towards risk. I look at their total assets and where they are positioned financially.

I can then effectively make investment decisions on their behalf and react quickly to sudden market changes or opportunities to achieve their financial goals.

Q: How can a wealth manager help me?

A: Everyone’s different, so financial risk appetite and objectives will vary. To accommodate this, we tailor our service to you.

We can help provide you with an income in retirement or protect and grow your pension for the future while you’re still working. We will do whatever is suitable to achieve the best outcome for you.

Charles Stanley has a dedicated Financial Planning division, but we can partner up with your existing advisor to help you reach your objectives. Our Intermediary Sales Team has built strong relationships with independent financial advisors for this purpose.

Q: What training do wealth managers receive to be able to manage my finances?

A: Expertise is gained through advanced professional qualifications, experience and collaboration. As part of a network of over 25 offices nationwide, Charles Stanley Eastbourne has resources and knowledge across the business to draw on.

While other firms may have an investment model approach dictating how a portfolio is invested, our wealth managers get guidance from our investment strategy committee, but are given the flexibility to offer clients a bespoke strategy depending on their circumstances. The committee updates us regularly on global developments so we can position a client’s investments appropriately.

Q: Why Charles Stanley Eastbourne?

A: We provide a friendly, local service, and we build incredibly trusting relationships with our customers. We do this by being completely transparent and providing our clients with access to a dedicated investment manager and team.
