Standing room only for concert

It was a sell out concert when The Chordettes and the Torbay Police Choir performed at Hannahs at Seale Hayne.

The two choirs, whose members are drawn from a variety of backgrounds and professions, gave a memorable evening of musical entertainment. Not only did they produce a high quality performance but their enjoyment and dedication came across in their singing, giving the audience an added dimension and sense of occasion.

Songs included works by the Drifters, Billy Joel, Annie Lennox and Oscar Hammerstein and from shows Les Miserables and Blood Brothers, all clearly demonstrating the range and ability that these choirs have to offer.

The finale was The Rose by Amanda McBroom (arranged by Gwyn Arch) and performed by both choirs. This was a very moving piece of music and a remarkable performance given that it was the first time the choirs had sung together once again showing their ability and adaptability.

Also appearing were the Choir of St Michaels School, Kingsteignton and ten visiting children from Belarus.

These two groups gave contrasting performances and added to an evening fun, variety and high quality choral music.

The concert was organised to raise funds for the Teignbridge and Torbay Link of Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline and the charity is indebted to everyone who made this evening such a great success.
