Worldwide Vetinary Service are working with Nepal based animal welfare organisations and charities to deploy a rapid action response.

WVS based in Cranborne, provides and supports animal welfare charities all over the world with veterinary resource including vital aid.

The death toll in the Nepal earthquake rose to more than 3,600 today and could climb higher as fears grow for the fate of people living in remote villages that remain out of the reach of search and rescue teams.

Often with disasters like this, they carry out mass vaccinations of livestock to stop the spread of any disease around aid camps or remote villages.

In emergency situations or at times of a disaster WVS is able to provide a rapid action response. Charities in disaster zones or who are experiencing a veterinary emergency can contact us for help and we can provide aid by sending either; veterinary teams equipped with supplies or veterinary aid parcels containing what’s needed to respond to the situation.

“The Nepalese earthquake has had a devastating effect on the people and animals in the affected region. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected. At times like this, the remit of WVS is to help champion animal welfare at every turn and pooling our resources with our associated charities in Kathmandu and surrounding areas is a must. To that end, we have already sent key medical supplies to Nepal and have an emergency team of experienced vets and disaster emergency relief coordinators poised and ready to go as the situation gets evaluated and as help is required.”

Any donations of time, money or medicines will be gratefully received and only with the generosity of fantastic supporters are we able to run projects like this to make a difference to the animals who have nowhere else to turn. Thank you for support and if you’d like to get more involved or find out exactly what we’re doing and why please mail info@wvs.org.uk”.

We will be updating the situation as soon as we get any more updates. Please keep checking our Facebook, Twitter and latest news for any more information. But you can support and donate to WVS via this link. wvs.org.uk/how-to-help/donate/#donateform
