Exeter solicitors have joined forces as part of a regional effort to support a national children’s charity by providing an opportunity for people living in the south-west to have their Will written for free this week (24-28 January).

bibic, which transforms the lives of disabled children and their families, has teamed up with solicitors in Exeter, Taunton, Bridgwater and Bristol to organise a Free Will Writing Week to raise awareness and vital funds for the work of the charity.

Participating solicitors include Follett Stock and Tozers of Exeter, Acorn Solicitors based in Taunton, Amicus and Pardoes in Bridgwater and Gregg Latchams in Bristol.

Members of the public can arrange their free will by contacting one of the participating solicitors who are donating their time and expertise to support bibic. Whilst there is no obligation for people to make a donation in return for the service, the charity hopes that some will see this as an opportunity to help disabled children by including a gift in their Will.

Graham Valentine who is a therapist for bibic said “When families approach us for support they are often desperate, having been told that no-one is able to help their child. Thanks to kind-hearted people who give donations and remember bibic in their Will, we are to transform the lives of children and their families and give them hope for the future”.

Ann-Marie Wilton of Follett-Stock solicitors in Exeter said “Writing a will gives you the certainty and peace of mind from knowing that your property and possessions will be passed on exactly as you want on your death. It is easy to put off or never make a will but this could mean that your loved ones are not provided for in the way you would have wished. We are delighted to be supporting Bibic by writing free Wills this week and hope that our combined efforts will help many children in years to come”.

Although people will be under no obligation to do so, they will be invited to make a donation to bibic at their Free Wills appointment. Suggested donations are 60 for a single will, 100 for mirror wills, or 30 for a codicil to an existing will.

There are a limited number of free Wills available this week and it is essential that members of the public contact a participating solicitor to arrange their appointment in advance.
