GROUNDWORK Hertfordshire, is celebrating the end of a tree seed growing initiative with several schools in Hemel Hempstead.
The project began in 2006 when five primary schools visited the National Trust site at Ashridge Estate where they collected tree seeds. The seeds were then planted and the seedlings have been tended to by the school pupils and staff ever since.
As part of a final annual visit to the schools, Groundwork Hertfordshire helped pupils plant some of the oak and field maple saplings within the school grounds.
Children from Broxwood, Leverstock Green, Tudor and Gaddesdon Row Primary schools have all taken part in the project.
