The AA have awarded 2 Rosettes for the 8th Year running to one of Cheltenham’s most popular independent restaurants

Monty’s Brasserie in St Georges Road Cheltenham celebrated its 12th birthday in September 2015. Monty’s are proud to have achieved another 2 star AA Rosette award for culinary excellence 2015-2016.

This coveted AA award for consistently good high quality food was received by Montys after just one year of opening the restaurant and this was quickly followed by a 2nd two AA rosettes award which has been maintained to this day, totalling 8 awards. The AA only award the 2 Rosettes to excellent restaurants that aim for and achieve higher standards and better consistency. A greater precision is apparent in the cooking, and there is obvious attention to the selection of quality ingredients. Around 40% of restaurants/hotels within the AA Restaurant Guide have Two Rosettes.

Some of the dishes which appeared on the first ever menu such as Scallops, Mussels and Thai Crispy duck are still among the best sellers today. To add to its repertoire Monty’s has become well known for serving the best locally reared steaks, making sure where possible that everything is sourced from local suppliers.

Over the years, Monty’s has seen some well known celebrities and royalty through its doors: Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall have frequented both the restaurant and bar on a number of occasions particularly during the Cheltenham Races. Other celebrities include Richard Hammond, James Martin, Patricia Hodge, Jenny Eclair, Dom Jolly, Duffy, Ed Sheeran to name but a few.

Owners Jeremy and Alison Shaw said that ‘Monty’s success is down to a combination of consistently good high quality food at all times, listening to customer feedback, a great atmosphere and friendly knowledgeable staff. If you get that right, you are going to succeed’. Monty’s is open to all, 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.
