The successful ‘AgriTech and the Future of British Farming’ season at Farm491 will come to a close with the two-day showcase event

Farm491, the AgriTech incubation hub at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU), is championing all things technology with its ‘AgriTech Season’ which has so far consisted of a series of events, workshops and conferences throughout February, March and now into April.

The season will culminate with its showcase two-day event ‘AgriTech and the Future of British Farming’ on the April 4 and 5. In collaboration with the RAU, the event will take place at the Rural Innovation Centre in Harnhill, Cirencester.

The two-day extravaganza will consist of commercial tech showcases, industry debates and exciting on-farm demonstrations, plus lots more. The event will explore the potential implications of new technologies such as robotics, sensors, digital platforms, indoor farming, and innovative integrated systems responding to current on-farm challenges. What will the future farm look like? And how can we solve those challenges affecting the industry? The two-day event aims to support and inform farmers about new technologies and developments that can solve common on-farm issues. Agronomists, commercial manufactures, investors and policy makers will have the opportunity to take an insight into the current stages of agricultural innovation. As well as all this insight, knowledge and learning, the event has been certified for 7 BASIS CPD Points.

Technology showcase and discussion group

The technology showcase sessions will be a great opportunity to see what AgriTech companies have to offer to farmers and other audiences such as investors and policy makers. Each day will have two farmer’s discussion groups with a focus on a particular agricultural problem that needs a tech solution. A series of field demonstrations will be schedule throughout the day outlining their ready-to-market products and research.

Dr Karen Rial-Lovera, RAU Lecturer in Agricultural Engineering and Technology, commented; “Our two-day event will conclude what has been a very successful AgriTech Season with Farm491. The objective of the season has been to coordinate all those connected to the AgriTech industry - to share knowledge and insight, and to showcase the essential role that technology has to play on the agricultural industry. We look forward to welcoming delegates to the event which is set to be for everyone in the sector.”
