Local law firm Lodders Solicitors is backing one of Stratford-upon-Avon’s longest running annual events for the first time this year

Lodders has confirmed its support of the 2019 Stratford Boat Club Regatta, which takes place on Saturday June 15, between 8am and 6.30pm.

The Regatta has been taking place in Stratford since 1879, and this year will involve 130 races with more than 300 rowers representing ten different clubs.

As well as Stratford’s own crews, the event draws competitors, able-bodied and adaptive, from clubs including Abingdon Rowing Club, Cardiff & Vale Schools Rowing Academy, Evesham Rowing Club, Royal Grammar School Worcester, Warwick Boat Club, Monmouth Comprehensive School Boat Club, Worcester Rowing Club, King Edward The Sixth School and Northwich Rowing Club.

As well as the races, the Regatta attracts a lot of interest from visitors to the town who often gather at Bancroft Gardens and the Recreation Ground to enjoy the racing, barbecue and refreshments in the Club grounds, which are open to all.

Lodders’ sponsorship of the Regatta continues the firm’s support of many of Stratford’s annual community events and support of local charities, as Martin Green, the firm’s senior partner, explains: “We take immense pride in supporting and taking an active role in our local community, whether through our charitable work including for our own Lodders Charitable Foundation. We are pleased the firm can provide valuable support of the Stratford Regatta 2019, which is one of the town’s flagship and longest-running events. In addition, the Regatta is raising money for Shakespeare Hospice, which is a charity close to our hearts and one of the chosen beneficiaries of the firm’s own Charitable Foundation.”

Paul Hazelwood, Stratford Boat Club’s Treasurer, adds: “We are so pleased to have Lodders Solicitors sponsor our Regatta this year. Its involvement shows the firm’s commitment to the local Stratford and wider Midland economy and social cohesion. Together with the co-operation of other organisations and companies who make their living on the river such as the Countess of Evesham restaurant boat, Canal & River Tours, Bancroft Cruisers, the Environment Agency, Avon Boating, the Sea Cadets and Avon Navigation, Lodders’ sponsorship is essential to make the Regatta viable.”
