An innovative magazine, created by three Cheltenham-based businesses, has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award

An editorial and design collaboration between leadership development and strategy specialists, QuoLux, communications agency, Target and creative agency, Design Sanctuary, Leading magazine has been shortlisted in the ‘Best Publication’ category at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Excellence Awards.

“We are absolutely delighted that Leading has been shortlisted for a national award,” said Sarah Bryars, Chief Executive at Target and part of the editorial team. “Following our win at the regional CIPR awards in November last year, to then be recognised nationally is hugely flattering. The whole team has worked hard to create a publication that reflects the experiences and personal leadership stories within a diverse range of businesses; it’s a truly collaborative project.”

Each issue includes a mix of interviews, features and personal contributions from business owners and leaders while an artist is commissioned for the cover, briefed to interpret the issue’s theme.

“Leading exemplifies the power of focused and beautifully executed communications with real substance to influence decision-makers,” said Stewart Barnes, Managing Director at QuoLux. “It has given us a platform that we can build upon in our mission to transform the economic contribution of small and medium-sized businesses through improved leadership.

The enthusiastic reception for the magazine is overwhelming. This proves there’s a place for high quality publications in a sea of digital copy, vindicating our concept and approach. We’re all very much looking forward to a night of celebration, whatever the outcome, at the awards evening in June.”

“From the very start, we were given a lot of creative freedom which made the process a really exciting one,” said Jamie Rudd, Creative Director at Design Sanctuary. “To be able to lead on the design but also have support and input from a great team has been the hallmark of the magazine’s success and I’m proud to be part of the team behind it.”

The CIPR Excellence Awards recognise work by the country’s very best communications agencies and in-house teams. A final round of face-to-face judging will take place in London on Tuesday May 1 before the awards evening takes place at the Artillery Garden at The HAC on Wednesday June 6 where the winners will be announced.
