Shaw Gibbs, Principal Sponsor of Oxford Hawks Hockey Club, is delighted to announce that Hawks have been awarded Club of The Year at the prestigious Oxfordshire Sports Awards 2013.
The trophy was presented at a glittering ceremony at Kassam Stadium on November 29 and was received by Club members Henri Gordon, Sue Clark, Adrian Higgins, Dave Hughes, Richard Venables, Nick Rogers, Catherine Taylor, Neil Chilvers and Caroline Baggs.
Accountancy and business advisory firm Shaw Gibbs has been Principal Sponsor of Oxford Hawks Hockey Club since 2012. Shaw Gibbs’ partner, Peter O’Connell, said: “We are absolutely thrilled for Oxford Hawks. Being awarded Club of the Year is a real vote of confidence from the regional sporting community and will help the club go from strength to strength.
“As principal sponsor, we see how much effort everyone involved in the club puts into making it such a success and we are proud to be part of that.”
Henri Gordon, member of Oxford Hawks for over 20 years, is equally delighted: “It’s been an amazing season, and this award is the icing on the cake in our 75th anniversary year. One of the highlights was 8 out of our 16 adult teams either winning their league or being promoted, and we’ve also had so much success in the junior section too. The club continues to go from strength to strength in all departments and we are delighted to have the support from Shaw Gibbs along the way.”
After the ceremony, the Oxford Hawks members proudly delivered the trophy to the club, to present to club juniors, coaches and parents in recognition of everyone’s contribution to the club’s success.
Founded in 1938, the club has 8 ladies and 9 mens teams. It is also England Hockey Board ‘Clubs First’ accredited, in recognition of the club providing a safe, effective and child friendly hockey environment and has a Junior Section containing over 450 members.
