Accountancy, investment management and tax group Smith & Williamson has donated £2,000 to Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice which cared for a former member of staff who died last year.
Sarah Hackwell, who was a secretary in Smith & Williamson’s Cheltenham office for almost four years, fought cancer for two years and spent her final days at the Leckhampton Court Hospice.
The hospice is run by the Sue Ryder charity, which provides care for terminally ill people. The donation was used to buy two reclining chairs for residents at the hospice.
Louise Somerset, partner in private client tax services at Smith & Williamson and head of the firm’s Cheltenham office, said: “Sarah spent her last few days at Leckhampton Court where she was cared for with love and attention.
“Pete, her husband, and Rosemary, her mother, visited her there and really appreciated everything they did for Sarah to make her last few days as good as they could possibly be.
“I know the staff can never do too much for the patients and their families and they all go above and beyond in caring for people at the end of their life.”
