Richard Draper MBE, founder of The Benjamin Foundation

The Benjamin Foundation, which supports thousands of children, young people and families across Norfolk each year, was founded by Richard Draper MBE, almost 21 years ago. Named after Richard’s son Ben, who lost his life in a motorcycle accident at the age of 17, the foundation helps people in the county deal with many of the challenges that life throws at them; from accessing good quality childcare or affordable home furnishings to problems like homelessness, bullying or abuse. Having started with one rural youth group in north Norfolk, the charity now delivers more than 30 services across the county, all focused on providing people with hope, opportunity, stability and independence. The charity has recently moved into a new head office in St Andrew’s Street, Norwich, and after leading it since day one, Richard is retiring this year.
