Local charity Hospiscare, which cares for patients in Exeter, Mid and East Devon, is staging its annual Starlight Walk on Saturday 10 May.

The 12km walk starts and finishes at Exmouth Football Club, and there will be entertainment throughout the night, starting with a Zumba warm up and music from the Exmouth Shanty Men.

The fundraiser is an opportunity for women of all ages to enjoy a walk under the stars along the beautiful coastline, while raising money for a great cause. Each walker will also be given the chance to remember a loved one and provided with a memory star to write the name of their loved one on.

Lynda Hardacre participated in the event last year in memory of her father who died two years ago in the Exeter Hospice. She said: “Whilst spending time with Dad in his final days, my Mum, sister and I noticed it took £400 per day to look after one patient. With that in mind the three of us agreed to take part in the Starlight Walk and we raised more than £1600 – enough to pay back the hospice for the care Dad received in his final days.”
