Two trainers are offering the time, space and guidance to enable Norfolk people to discover their inner resources at a new retreat in Wymondham.
Aneesh de Vos from Cley and Norwich-based David Dowdeswell-Allaway believe the retreat days – which they are hoping will lead to a longer retreat next year – will enable men and women to focus on their lives and themselves and realise what they want to change or develop.
Aneesh comments: “Personally I would love to go on this course – to take the time out to actually stop the world and get off in a safe environment speaks volumes to those who join us; as the answer actually does lie within us. We actually do innately know what works for us and once we begin to connect to that inner knowledge we start to rely less on the distractions fulfilling us.
“Among the activities during the day one of my favourites is mirror work. Participants are asked to bring their own mirror – this sounds a little unusual, yet the effects can be profound as a person works with actually looking at and connecting with themselves as oppose to wondering the age old question ‘Does my bum look big in this?’ As participants work through the varying parts of the day, they can start to connect with their own responsibility towards their health – both physically and emotionally.”
David says the retreat – The Answer Lies Within – fits perfectly with his purpose and ethos of sharing his experience and skills. He has worked in environmental education for children in the USA, with corporate clients, in higher education – including at the Norwich Business School of the University of East Anglia – and ran a training, coaching and therapy business in Lancaster focussing on neuro-linguistic programming and hypnosis, which he is currently recreating in Norwich.
“My life’s purpose can be stated, thus – I passionately believe that inside everyone is something beautiful, and I can give myself to help people to believe it too,” he says.
Aneesh, who has bases at Quay Corner, Cley, High Silver Clinic in Holt, and at The Acorns Osteopathic Clinic in Aylsham, has been working in this field for 20 years. “I am just passionate about what I do and how I do it,” she says. “The answer does lie within us, because we all do know what is best for us but we can lose touch with that and start to think we don’t really know anymore. Once people know that the answer lies within them, they realise that they have to take responsibility for themselves, their health, their choices.”
