Fly-pasts by the Great War Display Team and World War One training camp re-enactments were the order of the day as The Princess Royal visited the Woodland Trust’s Centenary Wood in Epsom to officially name it ‘Langley Vale Wood’.

The national Centenary Woods project is commemorating World War One by creating a new woodland for each part of Britain, with Langley Vale the 640-acre flagship site for England.
This special naming day celebrated the rich history of the site by recreating the sights and sounds of World War One, with horse logging and charcoal-making taking place among the uniformed soldiers.
The local Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association and pupils at The Vale primary also talked about the 10,000 trees they helped plant to begin the transformation into a beautiful place for remembrance.
