Paul and Dave Smith are about to embark on a 100-mile walk along The Cotswold Way in aid of the charity ROSY (Respite Nursing for Oxfordshire's Chronically and Terminally Ill Youngsters). They will undertake the walk, from Chipping Campden to Bath on 16th June. It promises to be gruelling, with Dave and Paul covering more than 25 miles a day. Dave's daughter Abi was born with a condition called Edwards Syndrome, which is a form of Down's Syndrome. The condition is terminal and most children don't even survive birth, however Abi lived for three months after birth with the support of nurses from ROSY who allowed Dave and his wife to bring Abi home and look after her there with help until her death. Paul (pictured) will be walking after recovering from a hernia operation and with barely any training: "I don't know how I'm going to do it, but we'll just keep walking and think of Abi. One thing I do know is that I'm going to need several pints at the end!" he says. The pair will be taking pictures of themselves along the way at various points in the route, which passes through places like CIrencester, Tetbury and Malmesbury.
