Our readers visit one of the more popular locations in the Lake District, and their photos illustrate why.

Ambleside is one of the most popular towns in the Lake District. The town stands at the head of Windermere and in the middle of some of England’s finest scenery. While the lake is the most obvious destination for the keen photographer, there are a few local landmarks that are worth visiting to add to the collection of your trip. The Stock Ghyll Force waterfall and the Old Bridge House, that is built over Stock Gyhll and is probably the most photographed building in the whole of the Lake District.

Further afield, the Fairfield Horseshoe is a well known walking route that starts out at Ambleside and rewards walkers and photographers with fantastic view of the surrounding area.

Why don’t you upload your photos of Ambleside to the reader photo gallery?
