Our readers captues one of Chorley’s most famous landmarks.
Chorley is a town that has an abundance of countryside and green spaces right on its doorstep. Just to the south of the centre is Yarrow Valley Country Park, on the other side of the M6 motorway, you will find White Coppice, Anglezarke and Rivington,
But for many locals, their favourite outdoor space that is a little closer to home; Astley Park is just north of the town centre and includes historic woodland, a lake as well as a fully renovated Victorian walled garden.
The focal point of Astley Park is the Grade One listed Astley Hall which was built in the 16th century and now serves as a museum and art gallery. The asymmetrical front with its distinctive ionic columns has made the building one of the most photographed structures in Lancashire.
Taking a photo from the other side of the lake from the park is a popular way to capture this scene and it’s clear from the collection of photos that we have here, that Astley Hall is a building that can give a beautiful subject in any season.
