A beautiful landscape that is part of the Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria.
Dentdale is one of those strange quirks of the boundary changes in 1974 in that is part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park but is officially a part of Cumbria, originally it was part of the historic West Riding of Yorkshire.
The Arten Gill and Dent Head viaducts, both constructed from local Dent marble, are of particular note and Dent Station is the highest mainline train station in England, standing at 1150 feet above sea level.
The George and Dragon is a grade 2 listed building situated in the centre of Dent and stands on what was once the site of the village’s market place, which is also the location of a memorial to locally born geologist, Adam Sedgwick.
