Is Christleton the prettiest village in Cheshire?

Christleton can lay claim to be one of the country’s prettiest villages, it has everything you can hope for in a quintessential English village, a pretty church, a village pond and there’s even a historic waterway in the form of the Shropshire Union Canal.

It comes as no surprise that it has been awarded overall winner of ‘Best Kept Village’ at the Cheshire Community Pride Competition on numerous occasions.

Christleton also has a few great country pubs, including the Cheshire Cat, the Plough Inn and the Ring O Bells (former Cheshire Life Dining Pub of the Year award winner)

The population is only a couple of thousand, which makes it a great little detour for those looking to escape the tourist crowds in Chester, it’s also very close to the trendy Chester suburb of Hoole with its range of independent shops and stylish eateries. Further afield you can go and explore other lovely villages such as Eccleston and Tarvin.
