Our readers share their photos of Stockport
Stockport may not be the most obvious place to take great photographs, especially when the town is in such close proximity to the Cheshire part of the Peak District.
One thing that stands out in this town is the vast array of interesting architecture that make good subject matter for snaps. There’s the iconic Town Hall, designed by architect Sir Alfred Brumwell Thomas and nicknamed ‘the wedding cake’ and there’s the glass framed Stockport Market, which rather resembles a large greenhouse.
The Stockport Viaduct is a perfect backdrop to any urban landscape, but if that’s a bit too industrial for you, Underbank Hall is a classic Tudor style building that is similar in style to the famous Chester Rows.
Further afield, just a few miles from Stockport is Bramall Hall, it has recently reopened after undergoing a £1.6 million refurbishment that took almost two years to complete.
The estate has 70 acres of landscaped parkland with lakes, woodland, and gardens that are open to the public, so there are plenty of quiet places to capture a beautiful scene.
