One the great walks in the Lake District rewards you with some fantastic views.

The Fairfield Horseshoe is one of the most popular walks in the Lake District, throughout its 10 mile course, it takes in some of the most iconic landmarks in the national park.

Most people head out from Ambleside, seeing as this town is a popular base for visitors to Lake Windermere and Rydal, it’s the natural place to start.

As you head north you can see landmarks such as Rydal Water and Grasmere to the west, once you reach the turning point at Fairfield you can see the Helvellyn range to the north.

Heading south and you can see the famous landmarks of Hart Crag, Dove Crag and eventually Red Screes on the eastern side of your panorama.

Hiking on the Fairfield Horseshoe is not a walk in the park, it can be difficult and long for a lot of novices but you are rewarded with some fantastic views if you decide to take it.
