These are the photographs which have taken the prizes in our super competition. Our panel of judges faced a tough task in choosing the best shots from the entries submitted to the annual search for the county’s best amateur photographer.

Hundreds of brilliant pictures taken all over the county were submitted for the competition which is sponsored by Wilkinsons Cameras.

After careful deliberation the judging panel – led by David Parkinson from Wilkinsons, Lancashire Life picture editor John Cocks and editor Roger Borrell – selected a shortlist of 12 images which you can see in the 2014 Lancashire Life calendar.

They then chose the top three and this year’s first prize of a Nikon D3200 and AF-S 18-55 VR worth £445, went to Karol Gajewski from Accrington for his shot of morning mist at Astley Hall.

Lancashire Life’s picture editor John Cocks said: ‘Mornings are a great time to take brilliant pictures as the light can be wonderfully clear. It was a very difficult job to choose just three from the hundreds of pictures that were entered for this year’s competition but in the end Karol was a very worthy winner.’

Janine Keenan, also from Accrington, won the £400 Nikon 1 J2 and 10-30mm White second prize for her picture of the view from Pendle Hill and the judges selected Karen Tickle of Formby to win the third prize of a Nikon Coolpix S9300 Red worth £200 for her glorious Autumnal shot.
