Hull - quirky, exciting, eclectic and entertaining is a part of The Countrywide Great Tour route this summer.

The Countrywide Great Tour begins on 4 July 2015 and takes place over 64 days visiting various coastal locations across the UK.

Cyclists will begin to arrive in Kingston-upon-Hull on the afternoon of 2nd August after a ride down the coast from Scarborough.

What’s not to like about a city that can boast such a wonderful street name as The Land of Green Ginger? It very much reflects the city of Hull – quirky, exciting, eclectic and entertaining. Hull is a place that has reinvented itself over the last few years and with no fewer than eight free museums is something of a cultural hub.

One of those attractions, the Arctic Corsair, offers more than a nod to the city’s fishing tradition. Visitors can take a free guided tour and gain an insight into the harsh working life of a North Sea trawlerman. It is also a place where you can shop until you drop as it boasts a number of quality shopping centres including St Stephen’s. Hepworth Arcade, Prospect, Princes Quay and Kingston Retail Park.

A great way to explore the city on foot is to follow either Ale Trail or Fish Trail that have been developed to showcase Hull’s history and heritage. For a touch of drama, it is always worth catching the latest production at the award-winning Hull Truck Theatre.
