On Monday 10 March Rob Frost of Rob Frost Photography Ltd received his award certificates from the British Institute of Professional Photography South West Region
Hosted at the Worlds End near Taunton, Devon, the evening’s event followed the previous months meeting during which the entries were judged and the winners announced. The awards competition served to recognise those photographers from the South West region who had reached a high level of success within their field of the photographic profession.
The level of quality in the winning images was unquestionable, and the photographers themselves were elated to have been recognised; amongst the winners was Rob Frost who, with his wife, runs a professional studio on the outskirts of the town of Liskeard in Cornwall. Rob was delighted to be presented with several awards, the top one being for the BIPP South West Region Wedding Photographer of the year. He was also awarded a further four awards of Excellence and two merits in Portraiture and Pets.
Rob said “I was delighted to win the Wedding category this year, especially considering the high level of competition from throughout the region and I am so looking forward to telling the wedding couple who can be seen in the winning image that a picture from their wedding has won me first place. I also have to say that it was wonderful to share the event with my wife Pauline and so many highly qualified photographers from the South West.
The winning image in the wedding category was taken on the north coast of Cornwall, just east of Newquay during a beautifully bright but chilly April day last year. I remember it well as although the beach looks deserted, it was far from it with lots of holidaymakers being present, just out of shot. The other images that won four awards of excellence and two merits were in the portrait and pets categories. These images were all taken at Rob’s purpose built studio.
Rob said “Photography for me is more than a job as I just love to capture a person or pets character in my images”. It is very gratifying to see that the photographs we take during our studio sessions, whilst also making our clients very happy can also win awards”.
Judge Steve Walton FMPA FBIPP FRSA, a Fine Art Wedding and Landscape Photographer from Leicester, said “I was delighted to judge the entries in the 2014 South West Awards. All the photographs presented were of a high standard and are a wonderful example of professional photography from the south west”.
The BIPP Awards are amongst the most highly regarded in the industry. Entry allows members to benchmark their work against that of their professional peers, and success in these awards shows an incredibly high standard of work. Not only are the judges looking for composition and technical ability, but also creativity, interpretation and that ‘wow factor’.
