Many would say that polo - ‘The Sport of Kings’- is synonymous with the Cheshire way of life! Polo is considered to be one of the oldest games in the world and Cheshire Polo Club can claim through a direct line of succession to be the oldest club in England.
People are attracted to polo for its style, excitement, passion and its dynamic competitive element. It is one of the most exciting games in the world for players and spectators alike. The club attracts international players from Argentina, New Zealand, Australia, Barbados and India to its five boarded grounds near Tarporley and its members play all over the world. Yet despite this level of prestige, the club promotes itself as a venue where everyone is welcome, entry is free and there is a fantastic social scene.
Polo is a game played with pace and power; the 2014 season includes over 40 tournaments, played every weekend from May through September at all levels of polo. Cheshire Polo Club maintains its position as one of the most prestigious clubs in the country, playing extremely competitive polo for the enjoyment of members and spectators.
Club members are always on hand to explain the game to those who have not had the opportunity to watch a game before.
The polo enthusiast’s diary is constantly packed full of tournaments, functions and parties to attend. There are tickets available for several key events including the Wirral Ladies’ Cup Lunch & Finals sponsored by Cheshire Life on Sunday 8th June and K & L Freight Limited sponsor The National 6 Goal Lunch & Finals on 6th July. Both of these important tournaments have pre-finals parties kicking off on the Friday night. Cheshire Polo Club’s social events are justly famous for just one thing – HAVING A GREAT TIME!
