You can watch dance, even hear it, but have you ever tried to smell it, to taste it? Dance South West presents Caramel

We have a sweet treat for you as we near the end of this season’s Thursday Night is Dance Night programme: Caramel explores the different senses and combines live theatre dance with the creation of sweet sticky caramel – yum!

Caramel is edible choreography: a combination of dance, sculpture and cookery to stimulate the five senses. We can watch dance, even hear it, but have you ever tried to smell it, to taste it? Caramel invites you to do just that.

Instant Dissidence’s work often questions what it means to be a performer and an audience member, challenging audiences and inviting them to surrender boundaries. What would choreography ‘look’ like if it was led by smell and taste rather than sight and sound? ‘I want to eat this work. Oh how mesmerizingly beautiful caramel is as it drips off of a storm lamp.’ Bellyflop Magazine
