Meet Easter Bunny. Starting on Good Friday and running through until Easter Monday, Lee Valley Park Farms in Waltham Abbey has plenty on offer in this special event. Look out for the farmyard’s new arrivals – and the Easter Bunny, too – on an Easter egg hunt. Indoor and outdoor play areas, plus tractor and trailer rides. 10am-5pm each day.

Cadbury Egg Trail. The Ashridge Estate near Berkhamsted hosts its annual Easter event from Good Friday until Easter Monday. Discover all about the woodland and learn about the wildlife that lives on the National Trust-owned estate. Answer questions along the trail and children can win a Cadbury chocolate Egghead.

Aboard Noah’s Ark. On Friday and Saturday the Noah’s Ark children’s hospice is hosting its annual Easter events at Capel Manor Lodge, Enfield. These include performances of Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ on the Friday and a comic book workshop with teenage art sensation Zoom Rockman on the Saturday.

Easter theatre. This year’s Easter musical production at the Gordon Craig Theatre in Stevenage is James and the Giant Peach. Performances run from Wednesday, April 16 through to Easter Sunday – but on the Saturday go along dressed as your favourite Roald Dahl character. The best dressed will win a family ticket to the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre.

Jousting knights. The Knights of Arkley will be jousting in front of Knebworth House on Easter Sunday and again on Easter Monday, in an event that has become one of the stately home’s most popular over the past few years. Costumed knights will demonstrate their hand-to-hand combat skills as majestic warhorses gallop across the arena.

Herts Easter Hunt. Enjoy an Easter-themed cycle ride around some of the picturesque corners of the county. From its base at Chancellor’s School in Brookmans Park, sign up for one of three routes – 33, 65 or (or if you’re feeling really fit) 98 miles.

Whichever you choose, be assured the calories burned will give you a great excuse to dig into an extra Easter egg or two. You may even bump into British pro cyclist Alex Dowsett, who was at the last event. Numbers are limited, so cyclists are advised to register online in advance.

Tudor walk. ‘There’s more to the Tudors than Henry VIII’ is the name of this guided walk in St Albans. Participants will discover the impact on the city of unprecedented social, religious and political changes through the Tudor era, from Henry VII to Elizabeth I.

Mad Science Holiday Camps Science will burst into life before youngsters’ very eyes in these fun Easter holiday camps, aimed at four to 11 year olds. Venomous Vipers and Egg-citing Echidnas. The Natural History Museum Tring is hosting 30 minute workshops on snakes and echidnas for children of all ages. Snake sessions take place on April 8 and 10 and echidna events on April 14 and 16. Tickets cost £1.50. On April 5 the museum egg curator (yes, there is such a thing), will crack open an enourmouus ostrich egg to explore its remarkable life-preserving qualities. Tickets are £4.50, booking necessary. Warner Bros Studio Tour. The studio tour plays host to the feathery actors that played Hedwig, Pidwidgeon and Errol in the Harry Potter film series, as well as ravens and crows, which will demonstrate their flying skills in the backlot. The secrets of animatronics and special effects used in the film will also be revealed. Feathers and Flight takes place from April 4–27. Visitors can pose for photos.
