Marketing and media manager Lorna Tremayne said, “All of us here Heligan are really delighted to have won such a fitting award from the people that matter the most, the public. From the start of the restoration Heligan has acted as a living memorial to Heligan’s past gardeners. This year as we commemorate the outbreak of the First World War and the turning point in Heligan’s history we are continuing the restoration into the estate and turning the clock back 100 years. To be recognized as Best Heritage Site feels like the perfect accolade for Heligan in 2014. Thank you to everyone that voted.”

Readers also voted Cornwall as their Favourite Holiday Destination.
